Technical problem with cpanel2 server

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

21:20
We are aware that the cpanel2 server is currently experiencing technical problems. We are currently investigating.

21:30 This server has stopped responding and we have rebooted it. The previous uptime was 45 days. We are monitoring the server startup.

21:40 Unfortunately the hard disk drive is forcing a fsck disk integrity check. This is a safety measure and it does not mean there is any problem with the hard disk drive. The server cannot startup until the disk integrity check has completed. We are currently working on this.

22:20 The disk integrity check is still in progress. This is a large server and unfortunately due to the size of the disk drive we anticipate it may take several more hours. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

01:10 The disk integrity check is still in progress.

01:35 The disk integrity check has finished. The server is now rebooting and we will verify that services are coming back online.

01:45 All services are now back online. We apologise for any inconvenience that this disruption has caused.

Power failure in Dallas, TX datacenter

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

10 August 2011
1:05pm
We are aware of a power failure in the Colo4 datacenter in Dallas, Texas which is affecting a small number of our customers with Windows webhosting servers. Datacenter technicians are working to restore service urgently.

1:15pm Our datacenter have told us the problem is with one of their ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch). They have said: “Our electrical contractors, UPS maintenance team and generator contractor are all on-site and working to determine what the best course of action is to get this back up.”

1:50pm Our datacenter have released an update: “It has been determined that the ATS will need repairs that will take time to perform. Fortunately Colo4 has another ATS that is on-site that can be used as a spare. Contractors are working on a solution right now that will allow us to safely bring that ATS in and use it as a spare while that repair is happening.

“That plan is being developed now and we should have an update soon as to the time frame to restore temporary power. We will need to schedule another window when the temp ATS is brought offline and replaced by the repaired ATS.”

5.00pm Thank you for your patience as our datacenter provider works to resolve this problem. We realise how frustrating it can be and we believe they are doing everything possible to get the service restored as quickly as possible.

Our datacenter have released an update: “Our team and electricians are working diligently to get the temporary ATS installed, wired and tested to allow power to be restored. As the ATS involves high-voltage power, we are following the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our personnel and your equipment housed in our facility.

“Based on current progress the electricians expect to start powering the equipment on between 6:15 – 7:00pm Central. This is our best estimated time currently. We have thoroughly tested and don’t anticipate any issues in powering up, but there is always the potential for unforeseen issues that could affect the ETA so we will keep you posted as we get progress reports.”

7.30pm All services are now back online. Thank you very much for your patience. We apologise for any inconvenience this downtime has caused.
